Voluntary Sector

Gwent LRF is fortunate to have various dedicated groups of volunteers, who in the event of a major emergency offer their services to assist our “full time” professional responders to perform the duties required to bring the incident to a conclusion.

The voluntary assistance given by these groups can range from “simple” things such as “making a cup of tea” for a victim or offering “a shoulder to cry on”, and progress to, what might be considered as, more technical skills such as Mountain Rescue Teams, First Aid responders, Communications equipment, backup systems and operators etc.

All the above and more are of great value to our “professional” partners and it would be fair to say that without this assistance we would be, on occasions, struggling to cope.

Below is a link to the “Memorandum of Understanding” (MOU) that has been agreed by the volunteer groups that work with the Gwent LRF member organisations / agencies.
